Gallery U17
The artist-run Gallery U17, founded 2026 by german artist Jörg Daniel, focusses on the power of oil or acrylic paintings, but also presents his interdisciplinary media art and pop culture. Advertising, celebrity photographs, film props, or for example surveillance technologies and homelessness are furtheron subject of discussion in Daniels roster of works.
No two of his Polaroid photographs are alike. By making exact cuts through Polaroids and transforming them into layered compositions, he creates mountains, monks, or even abstract surfaces. The destruction of a photograph thus becomes an act of creation, serving as a metaphor for a transformed perspective on the social world.

107 Tunes
An object made of vinyl and acrylics, 100x70cm, 2005
Artist’s Diary:
The object is created in four stages.
Wednesday, December 14, 2005
In the first step, a discarded vinyl record is smashed into 107 pieces, and the material's fracture characteristics are observed. It becomes apparent, that the vinyl shattered only upon the initial impact; subsequently, the individual pieces could only be bent rather than broken. Bent elements were discarded.

Metamorphosis Now
// METAMORPHOSIS NOW // (Social) Object, 220x65cm, 2011
„// METAMORPHOSIS NOW // is a work addressing the current situation of homelessness in Germany. It is a "social" object—a cocoon serving as a "shelter"—that affords homeless individuals a greater degree of "privacy" than the standard cardboard-box setup found on the street.
